Abstract The growth of Internet and the pervasiveness ICT have led to a radical change in social relationships. One drawbacks this is exposure individuals threats during online activities. In context, techno-regulation paradigm inspiring new ways safeguard legally interests by means tools allowing hamper breaches law. paper, we focus on specific when interacting with smartphones. We propose novel techno-regulatory approach exploiting machine learning techniques provide safeguards against online. Specifically, study set touch-based gestures distinguish between underages or adults who accessing smartphone, so guarantee protection. To evaluate proposed approach’s effectiveness, developed an Android app build dataset consisting more than 9000 touch-gestures from 147 participants. experimented both single-view multi-view find best combination able distinguishing underages. Results show that combining scrolls, swipes, pinch-to-zoom gestures, achieves ROC AUC (0.92) accuracy (88%) scores.
